There is one boxing enthusiast who doesn’t like to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao happen in 2015; World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Jessie Vargas, who is pegged by Top Rank Promotions founder and president Bob Arum as a possible prospect for Pacquiao's next fight if the rumoured super fight with Mayweather does not happen within next year.

Vargas is coming off a convincing 12-round unanimous decision victory over Antonio DeMarco to retain his world titles. All three judges scored in 116-112 for Vargas as the American remained unbeaten in 26 professional bouts.

“Vargas has become a fan-friendly fighter. He has shown the ability to take a punch and to throw a punch. He deserves to be on the short list for a fight with Manny,” Arum declared via reviewjournal.com. “That said, I’d like to see him on HBO again so people will become more familiar with Jessie before we put him on a pay-per-view with Manny. But we’ll see. Right now, I’m focusing on trying to get this fight with Mayweather done. I will leave no stone unturned to make the Mayweather fight.”

The Vargas-DeMarco bout was one of the undercard fights in the Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri main event at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort in Macau. Vargas wasted no time introducing his brand and himself to the boxing world by calling out the Filipino champion.

"Hey Manny Pacquiao, I'm the WBA champion and I hear you want to come down to 140 [pounds]," Vargas said post-fight in a Yahoo Sports article. "Let's make it happen. If you want this title, [fine]. I can go up and take your title, as well.”

Vargas’ manager Cameron Dunkin echoes his fighter’s sentiments saying that the Pacquiao vs. Vargas fight can happen in 147 or 140 or even at catchweight.

“He just wants a chance to fight Manny. One thing I do know is that Jessie won’t run from Manny for 12 rounds like Chris Algieri did,” Dunkin promised.

Vargas is just one of the many fighters from multiple weight divisions who wants a crack at Pacquiao. Aside from Floyd Mayweather Jr., other boxers who are rumoured to be next in line against the Filipino are Amir Khan (U.K.) and Danny Garcia (U.S.). A fifth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez (Mexico) is also a possibility for Pacquiao in 2015.
