“The Walking Dead” season 7 finale is just days ahead, and “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” promises to be an epic ride. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) now has the ammo and army to combat Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviours. But the bat-wielding baddie isn’t having any of it, and he also has something cooked up for the Alexandrians and their friends.

Spoiler alert: This preview contains plot details about “The Walking Dead” season 7. The season premiered Oct. 20. The series is available for Australian viewers to watch on Foxtel every Monday, 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The season finale preview of everybody’s favourite zombie apocalypse TV series teases a lot of intense sequences. Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the Scavengers are now officially allies of Team Alexandria, and they’re more than ready for the All Out War. She joins Rick upfront when it comes to defending the turf. Dwight (Austin Amelio) is also taking his chances with Rick, claiming that he wants Negan gone.

Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), meanwhile, did not give in to the Saviours’ leader the last time. But is she still going to stand by her decision in the finale? In the trailer, Sasha asks Negan what he wants from her, and he says that she is the one who’s “going to help make sure things get back on track.” Sasha can also be heard pronouncing – almost pleading – that nobody has to die, to which the Lucille-loving antagonist says “You are wrong.”

The All Out War is definitely not going to be explosive without bombs, and good thing that Aaron (Ross Marquand), Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) are into those. Carol (Melissa McBride) and Ezekiel (Khary Payton) are also heading to Alexandria to help out. The Kingdom’s leader even tags his amazing tiger Shiva along for the ride.

“The Walking Dead” showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who previously said that the last remaining episodes of season 7 would be “quantum intense,” promises that the finale is going to showcase “everything.” And yes, the final instalment is an “extended” episode that is set to have a longer runtime.

“It’s the highs and lows, brightness and darkness, alpha to omega, a quiet-loud-sad-happy tragiredemptive circus of emotion, anguish and grace,” Gimple tells EW. “I hope people feel it all come together and have that rush you feel when the roller coaster finally coasts back to the platform.”

“The Walking Dead” season 7 episode 16 airs on Sunday, April 2 in the US. Australian viewers get to watch the finale on Monday, April 3.
