UFC Interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor looks all set for his unification title bout against Jose Aldo, but the “Notorious” revealed that beating Aldo is not his top priority come fight night.

McGregor will clash with Aldo at the main event of UFC 194 on Dec. 12 in Las Vegas, which many expects to be a bloodbath between two fierce rivals. But according to McGregor, winning the match rather than beating up Aldo is his main goal when they come face-to-face in the Octagon.

“I focus on winning,” McGregor told MMA Fighting. “I entered that promotion as a winner, as a two-weight world champion, focused on winning. That’s it.”

McGregor was supposed to meet Aldo earlier this year at UFC 189, but a rib injury forced the latter to withdraw from their slugfest. But this time, Aldo has guaranteed fight fans and McGregor that he will show up at the event “100 percent” and walk away as the champion.

“There’s really no difference (between this fight and my others); you’re going to see me go in there and get the win,” Aldo said, reports MMA Junkie. “Really the only difference is I always beat Americans and this time I’m going to beat an Irishman.”

However, McGregor appears to be the early favourite to win the main event and Aldo’s claims are in contrast of the odds at UFC 194. Aldo has been out of action since UFC 179 in October 2014 when he successfully defended his title against Chad Mendes, who McGregor defeated at UFC 189.

Moreover, new viewers of UFC has yet to witness Aldo’s ability, but “Scarface” is confident with his credentials and is eager to show why many have ranked him along the top pound-for-pound fighters around the world.
