Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her title against challenger Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event of the UFC 193 at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne on Nov. 14 (Nov. 15 AEDT).

Jedrzejczyk has earned the right to be one of the most feared champions in the UFC because of her kickboxing abilities and one-shot knockout power. The Polish champ, undefeated with 10 wins and zero losses, faces a tough matchup against Canada’s Valerie Letourneau. However, Jedrzejczyk is convinced she will run over Letourneau who replaced an injured Claudia Gadelha.

“C’mon, man, I could see it in her eyes. She’s afraid already, believe me,” Jedrzejczyk said, reports MMA Junkie. “But it’s going to be a real war.”

Letourneau, with an MMA record of eight wins and three losses, has dismantled her opponents with her stand up game and is a formidable striker. The Canadian challenger is heading into the fight as the underdog, but Letourneau warned it would be a big mistake if she gets overlooked by Jedrzejczyk.

“I don’t know if she’s doing that for the show or she really believes what she’s saying,” Letourneau said, reports Yahoo Sports. “But I can say, if she underestimates me, it’s gonna be a big mistake because I’m ready to go there.”

Fight prediction

Fight fans could expect a possible slugfest between Jedrzejczyk and Letourneau as both fighters are known for their striking prowess. Letourneau could use her size advantage, but a faster and lighter Jedrzejczyk may slow down the Canadian in the later rounds.

Letourneau’s only chance for an upset is to strike strong in the early rounds and hope to get to knock out the champ out. Unless Letourneau finds the right moment to capitalise, Jedrzejczyk would take this match.

Winner – Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Round 4, TKO/KO
