Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City have been recently linked with a move for Real Madrid attacker Isco, but they have been dealt with a blow after Carlo Ancelloti ruled out the youngster's exit.

The 22-year-old's participation in the first-team was far from expectations last season, starting only 29 games in the La Liga and the Champions League combined, in spite of being dubbed as the next big thing in Spanish football for his performances at Malaga.

The Sky Blues are believed to have the upper hand in acquiring the Benalmadena native because of the connection that he has with Manuel Pellegrini, who was his mentor at the La Rosaleda, while the Reds are looking to boost attacking midfield options.

However, Ancelloti is adamant in keeping what he considers to be "future" of the Los Blancos.

"He had a great season last year & we have a lot of faith in him. He is the future of this squad," said the Italian manager.

"Isco & Illarra have a lot of personality and respect my decisions. They are always ready to play."
