La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona have joined the race to sign Schalke’s Leroy Sane who is also a target of English Premier League (EPL) giant Manchester City.

Schalke is demanding £40million (AU $82.2 million) for the midfielder. Sane is regarded as one of the best prospects of the Bundesliga, according to mirror.co.uk.

The 20-year-old German has been monitored by Manchester City for a while now and the English club will have to deal with the glamorous lure of Real Madrid and Barcelona, if they want to sign Sane.

Real’s new head coach Zinedine Zidane is aware of Sane’s talent and would love to include him in his Madrid setup. Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was reportedly monitoring Sane for the past two months and is also interested to bring the German to Camp Nou.

Sane was highly praised by Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola last November for his performances in Schalke colours and the Spaniard justified Manchester City’s link with the player.

Schalke is unlikely to hold on to the under-21 international for much longer with the likes of City, Real and Barcelona looking to send huge money bids for the player.

Sane has scored four goals this season with 13 chances and four assists to his name. He has completed 237 passes with a pass accuracy of 81%, according to squawka.com. With such impressive figures on the card, Sane doesn’t look to be a Schalke midfielder much longer.

The fans of the Ruhr valley club are mounting serious pressure on its officials to keep hold of the youngster. It has to be noted that Schalke allowed another youth product, Germany international and World Cup winner Julian Draxler depart for Wolfsburg last summer.

Sane is a pacy, talented winger who would improve any side he gets into. The German can operate in a number of roles – on either side of the flanks or in the “No.10” role.

The Essen-born star looks destined to reach the pinnacle of world football.
