Petra Kvitova recently took to Twitter to announce her engagement with fellow Czech and hockey player Radek Meidl. It is one of the biggest moments for Czech tennis star Petra Kvitova aside from winning her second grand slam title at Wimbledon Championships last year so she posted a simple update to all her followers on social media.

Kvitova posted a picture with her new fiancé on the popular micro-blogging platform on Thursday. “So happy to share the news with you that we got engaged,” Kvitova captioned her photo.

The couple had reportedly been dating for more than a year now, WomenTennisBlog reported. Kvitova occasionally share pictures of her with Meidl, who plays ice hockey for LHK Jestrabi Prostejov. She was also often seen escorted by Meidl in public events such as when she was recently named Sportsperson of the Year at the Czech Athlete Awards ceremony.

As the news broke of Kvitova’s engagement to Meidl, tennis stars also took to Twitter to offer their best wishes to the happy couple.

Meanwhile, Kvitova is currently working on off-season activities such as on her strength and conditioning regimen to prep her body for a better 2016 season, especially after a competitive 2014. The World No. 6 claimed titles in Sydney, Madrid, and New Haven this year.
