The much hyped Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on Tuesday, November 8 but aside from the blockbuster game, Activision is also counting on gamers to sign up for the new member service called "Call of Duty Elite".

The new service will cost dedicated gamers an additional $50 on top of the $60 fee for the CoD game. So what will gamers get for signing up for the "Elite" service? Players who do enlist in the Elite service will get a profile page that will track their gameplay stats for CoD games across various console platforms. Now gamers from PlayStation consoles and Xbox 360 consoles can brag about their stats via the Elite service. Unfortunately the Elite service still doesn't allow players from different consoles to go up against each other. Just bragging rights here, gamers.

Elite users will also be able to share their personal videos or screen shots with other players through the service. Elite subscribers will also have access to new downloadable content from Activision every month which will include new maps and gameplay modules. Players can also join groups and clans and participate in competitions with each other.

"The things that we're charging for are things that we really wouldn't be able to provide if we didn't," Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said. "It's not modeled after anything. It's kind of a new entry into the model here."

And to sweeten the deal, Activision is also adding a premium online feature for Elite subscribers called Call of Duty Elite TV. The feature will have a show by directors Ridley and Tony Scott called Friday Night Fights which is an original entertainment program. The television show will have real world rivals, including celebrities playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The TV series is an exclusive feature for Elite subscribers. Some of the celebrities slated to play CoD are Good Charlotte, Dwight Howard, Michelle Rodriguez and Jack Osbourne. Some real life rivalries which will go into battle are Army vs. Navy and Police vs. Fireman. The show will be hosted by WWE's Stacy Kiebler and will premiere on Friday, November 11 for Elite subscribers.

Call of Duty has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide since the series started in 2003. CoD's last installment, Black Ops sold more than 20 million copies and made over a billion dollars. The third installment of the Modern Warfare series will pit the player against Russian forces who have invaded multiple countries. The action will take place in several cities including London, New York and Paris. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available for pre-order for $59.99 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
