A recently leaked software update roadmap for Samsung devices reveals that the Korean tech company aims to roll out the Android Marshmallow update in two distinct phases. The first phase will see the most coveted and high-end Galaxy devices updated with the latest version of Android by February 2016.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ owners seem to be the luckier ones, as these devices will be the first to get the Android Marshmallow update as soon as December. Next in the pipeline are Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones. The devices will get the Android OS update in January 2016.

Meanwhile, the Note 4 and Note Edge are scheduled to get the upgrade in February. In Phase I, only six handsets have been approved to get the latest version of the Android operating system. Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Alpha are still awaiting approval, reports Techno Buffalo.

In Phase 2, mid- to low-range handsets will get the sweet taste of Marshmallow. The devices include Samsung Galaxy A8, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3, Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5 . All the updates are still awaiting approval.

In early October, SamMobile listed the Samsung devices which are scheduled to receive the Marshmallow update. It is worth mentioning that Samsung updated its S Health app with support for the latest version of Android. The application is now live in Galaxy App Store.

Google also recently unveiled its latest Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P with Android Marshmallow on board. Apart from that, HTC One A9 is the only device to run on the latest version of Android out-of-the-box. Meanwhile, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 have received their Android update. Last week, LG G2, G3, G4 and G Flex 2 on AT&T, Sprint, Mobile and Verizon also received the new OS.
