After the cold response to Samsung’s highly priced flagship Galaxy S6 series, the company will try its best to incorporate a legitimate mix of innovative features in its Galaxy S7 line-up at a competitive price.

Speculations hint the upcoming Galaxy S7 series will be cheaper than its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to debut at an Unpacked Event on Feb. 21, just a day before the MWC 2016 kicks off.

Different screen sizes with insignificant design change

Samsung is apparently more interested in adding better and bigger features under the hood than overhauling the overall look and design of Galaxy S7. According to an image posted by serial leaker Evan Blass on @evleaks, the smartphone manufacturer will unveil the Galaxy S7 edge as well as S7 edge+ along with the Galaxy S7.

Different processors

As reported by SamMobile, the Galaxy S7 will be released in two different processors for different markets. One variant will be powered by Samsung’s own home grown Exynos 8890 chipset while the other will come packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. The Exynos powered model will be released in the US and China whereas the later will be offered in the international market.

Bring back microSD card slot

One of the most striking changes that the Galaxy S7 will bring in is that both variants will feature microSD card slots for memory expansion up to 200 GB. Samsung had dropped this feature for the Galaxy S6 series and Note 5.

Innovative cooling technology

As reported by The Indian Express, Samsung will also include an innovative cooling technology to beat the overheating issues of the Snapdragon 820 processor. The Galaxy S7 will most probably sport small-pipes filled with liquid coolant placed around heated chipsets. It is worth mentioning that Sony uses liquid cooling in its Xperia Z5 .

Live Photos

Apart from 3D Force Touch, Samsung will emulate another iPhone feature - Live Photos. According to Android Geeks, the company is working on its own version of Live Photos, called Vivid Photo, which is slated to debut with the Galaxy S7.

3D-Touch display technology

Rumours suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S7 series will tout a pressure-sensitive display technology, ClearForce, similar to that of Apple’s 3D Force Touch in iPhone 6s lineup. The company seems to have collaborated with Synaptics, a developer of human interface solutions based on biometric technologies .

High speed charging port

The company may also incorporate a high-speed charging and connection port to its new range of flagship devices. The Type-C USB charging will allow the device to get fully charged in just 30 minutes.

Camera specs

Recently, the Galaxy S7 Edge with model number SM-G935A (AT&T variation) appeared on AnTuTu. The benchmarking website revealed that the device will house a 12 MP rear camera sensor along with a 5MP front-facing camera unit. The camera will apparently have an aperture of f/1.7 allowing low-light photography.

Battery overhaul

The batteries of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are likely to get an overhaul from the Galaxy S6 line-up, with non-removable batteries to reportedly increase in capacity; 3,000 mAh and 3,600 mAh batteries, respectively.
