Roger Federer made sure that all the ball boys and girls at the 2014 Swiss Indoors got to go home happy. He reportedly threw a pizza party, as he always does, for the tournament's ball kids after he claimed his sixth trophy in Basel. Federer defeated David Goffin in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, on Oct. 26.

Before Federer started to make a name from himself and ruled the world rankings, he was a ball boy. Speaking after the finals' match, Federer recalled having to ride his bike to come to the venue and work as a ball boy. "I would ride my bike from home, about five to 10 minutes away, and I was a ball boy here all day long and would go back home and do it again the next day," Federer told the reporters via the ATP's website. "So I always have a tradition where everyone has a pizza with me after the final."

According to Federer, he has been throwing pizza party for the ball kids for 11 years now. It doesn't matter if he wins or loses in the tournament. He makes sure that he spends some time with the trained squad of ball boys and girls, who make sure that the tennis match runs smoothly.

In an interview prior the 2012 Swiss Indoors as reported by Swiss news outlet Baz Online, Federer revealed that he was a ball boy at Basel in 1997, and that was where he got his inspiration to play at the top of his level from his experiences as a ball boy.

During the Kid's Tennis Day at the 2013 Australian Open in Melbourne, Federer relived his duties as a ball boy as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Victoria Azarenka play on. Kid's Tennis Day is one of the biggest kids' events of the summer.

Federer remains a top challenger for Novak Djokovic's World No. 1 ranking. He will be playing in the Paris Masters, which will run from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2. Then, Federer will take part in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena in London. Lastly, the 17-time Grand Slam champion will participate in the Davis Cup final against France.
