Qantas hopes to appease angry customers and lure them back to its fold with lower domestic and international fares, double frequent flyer points and other special deals.

The offers were reported in the Australian Financial Review (AFR) on Tuesday following the stranding of nearly 70,000 Qantas passengers worldwide on Sunday and Monday, when the airline grounded its fleet in a preemptive lockout ahead of a workers' strike.

The offer also comes after rival Virgin Atlantic offered passengers holding Qantas tickets 20 percent discount on its flights booked until Thursday. The offer is also good for flights book on Pacific Blue.

Qantas will also launch an advertising blitz to restore its damaged brand, according to AFR. The campaign is said to be the biggest in the airline's 90-year history and is aimed at getting customers during the peak Christmas period.

Qantas resumed normal operations on Tuesday following the order of Fair Work Australia for the airline and its unions to stop industrial action and settle labor disputes in the next six weeks.
