Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli finds himself in in an unwanted position yet again, as he was subjected to racially abusive remarks on social media after mocking Manchester United, which got trounced 5-3 by Leicester City.

The Red Devils were able to field-in almost all of their top summer signings, with Falcao and Angel di Maria leading the way, and looked on-course to securing a win after Ander Herrera found the back of the net on the 57th minute to give his side a 3-1 advantage.

However, the dream turned into nightmare for the remainder of the game, as the Foxes were able to produce four goals to take all three points, thanks to heroics from Leonardo Ulloa, Esteban Cambiasso, David Nugent, and Jamie Vardy.

While the Old Trafford outfit and its supporters were grieving, Balotelli was celebrating and posted a tweet that read: "Man utd... LOL."

Passionate yet irresponsible fans responded with racial slurs to the Italian international's antics. A certain @CraigSainsbury called Ballotelli the "N" word and described him as a dirty monkey, while another called him a paedophilic dog.

Meanwhile, Merseyside Police are reported to be already conducting an investigation on the matter.

"We can confirm officers are looking into offensive comments made on Twitter about Mario Balotelli earlier today," they said in a statement.

"As far as I am aware there have been no complaints but we have been made aware of it by a number of press inquiries."
