Pantone Names Radiant Orchid as Official Color of 2014 [WATCH]
Pantone Inc., the global authority on color, named the PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid as the official color of 2014 on Dec. 5, 2013. PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid is described by the X-Rite company located in Carlstadt, New Jersey, as "a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple." Pantone Color Institute® executive director Leatrice Eiseman elaborated on the PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid and compared it to the PANTONE® 17-5641 Emerald which is the 2013 Color of the Year.
"While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination," said Eiseman as stated in the official Pantone Web site.
"An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today's society." Eiseman added.
The Official Color of 2014 PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid is further described in the Pantone Web site.
"An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm," noted in the Pantone Web site.
The beautiful purplish pink shade can be used in several ways, particularly in fashion, beauty and interior designs. In fact, PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid is part of the PANTONE® Fashion Color Report Spring 2014.
