The year has not ended, yet we are eyeing few screenplays which will go neck to neck for the 'Best Original Screenplay' at Academy Awards 2014.

First in the race is Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine". Starring Cate Blanchett in the lead role, the film tells a story of former New York ultra -rich socialite who loses her status after her husband (Alec Baldwin) goes to jail. Praised for her strong performance in the film, Cate Blanchett is already considered a sure nomination for the 'Best Actress.' Coming to the screenplay of the film, it is written by Allen himself, however according to some critics the film appears to be adapted or inspired from " A Streetcar Named Desire". The screenplay of the film unfolds beautifully as Cate's characters comes back to stay with her sister and from there the story unfolds as she reflects back onto her life.

Joel and Ethan Coen 's "Inside Llewyn Davis" is another film which has strong chances of finding itself in the Best Original Screenplay Oscar 2014 category. Winner of prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes film festival " Inside Llewyn Davis is the story of singer-songwriter, Llewyn Davies played by Osact Issac, who brings limelight to the NewYork folk music circuit. The film is being predicted to fight in the Best (original) Screenplay category, however there are rumors that the film may be inspired from Dave Van Ronk's posthumously published (2005) memoir "The Mayor of MacDougal Street".

Sue Smith and Kelly Marcel's "Saving Mr. Banks", starring Tom Hanks is script has been widely appreciated for its ingenuity and is a strong contender at Oscars. The film revolves around the production of the 1964 Walt Disney Studios film "Mary Poppins".
