A strong earthquake measuring 6.7 had hit northeast India this morning at around 4:35 am (9:05 AEDT). The earthquake hit near the country's border with Bangladesh and Myanmar.
According to the latest updates, at least four people have died in and around the Imphal region, the closest city of the epicentre. There are reports of a few casualties in Bangladesh as well. In addition, dozens of people have been injured in an attempt to escape from the collapsing building following the tremors.
Author and founder of the Manipur Women Gun Survivors Network, Binalakshmi Nepram stated in a tweet that the mobile network has completely gone off in Manipur following the earthquake. In addition, the area is hit by a total electricity blackout.
