Nokia has announced the arrival of its very own Z Launcher Beta for Android devices. The Z launcher was first showcased in June this year, and during the pre-beta period, the launcher could only be downloaded through Nokia's Web site. Now users can download the launcher from the Google Play Store.

Android Authority states that when the Z launcher was first released, it received good reception from the users. When the first beta version of the launcher was made accessible to 10,000 testers in the beginning, downloads crossed over 100,000 on the very first day. Hence, Nokia had to prevent accepting more testers.

According to PhoneArena, the Nokia N1 Android tablet will come preloaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop. It will be overlaid with Nokia Z launcher. The whole idea behind building the Z launcher is to eliminate the use of multiple home screens. Hence, the Z launcher comes with only one page and it has the ability to show relevant apps for the particular time of the day.

The major feature of Z launcher is Scribble. When a user draws a letter anywhere on the display, the launcher will start showing all the apps that start with that letter. For instance, if a user draws G, the display will show all the apps starting with G. Then when the user adds 'oo', Scribble narrows down the search to apps with letters 'Goo,' which would also include Google apps. This allows the user to quickly access any app.

How fast is the Nokia Z launcher in real life? By drawing a few characters, users can quickly launch any app from a list instead of the usual way of scrolling through three to four screens to access an app. PhoneArena claims that the Nokia Z launcher seems to be a suitable option for tablets since users have to operate large-screen tablets with two hands.

Since the Nokia Z launcher is a prediction-based app, it will reportedly take some time to show accurate results. However, the more frequently a user uses it, the more accurate it will perform. Interested readers can download Nokia Z Launcher Beta from this link.
