Jackson is due to be paid $9.78 million with a team salary cap hit of $12.2 million for the Buccaneers making him one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league.

Only three other NFL wide receivers, Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions, Mike Wallace of the Miami Dolphins and Dwayne Brown of the Kansas City Chiefs will earn will earn more per average season salary than Jackson.

There were talks that the Buccaneers and Jackson were initially considering a restructured long-term deal but settled on the shorter but more expensive contract that will assure Jackson to remain with the squad until the 2016 NFL Season.

Jackson is a three-time NFL Pro Bowler making the elite team in 2009, 2011 and 2012. The Buccaneers finished the regular season with 2 wins and 14 losses tied with the Tennessee Titans for the worst record in the entire league. The Bucs will pick first in the 2015 NFL Draft and the Titans will pick second overall.
