Sunday's featured Big 12 match-up features the #2 and #3 ranked teams in the conference, #10 Texas Tech and #17 Oklahoma. The venue of the game will be the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma, the 15th-largest stadium in the United States with a capacity of more than 82,100 spectators.

Texas Tech began the season unranked, entering the AP rankings in Week 3 with a 20-10 win at home against erstwhile #24 Texas Christian. Since then, they have steadily climbed up the rankings, going to #20 in Week 5, rising to #16 after a rousing victory against Iowa State, then zooming up to #10 after a road victory against the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Red Raiders are coached by first-year coach and former quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, who took over from Tommy Tuberville after he was hired away by the Cincinnati Bearcats. Texas Tech features a high-octane offense, having breached the 40-point barrier four times in 2013, including a 54-point performance against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Oklahoma was ranked #16 in the pre-season poll and won five straight games, including a huge 35-21 road victory against #22 Notre Dame that pushed them all the way up to #11. However, a shocking loss against the unranked Texas Longhorns pushed them down to #18, before winning against Kansas on Oct 19. The Sooners' homecoming game against the Red Raiders on Sunday might help determine if they will recover lost ground, or if they will slide further down the rankings. Unlike the Raiders, the Sooners do not run up the score, choosing instead to keep opposing offenses down. They have given up an average of 17 points per game; against Big 12 opponents, and that number rises to 24 points per game. The keys to the offense have been handed over to redshirt freshman quarterback Trevor Knight who is still suffering from a bruised knee.
