Canadians can have the newly released Motorola Moto G smartphone for free if they sign a new two-year contract with Telus or Koodo Mobile. Off contract, the phone costs $200.

The Moto G has a similar design to Google Motorola's flagship device, the Moto X, and can also be customised using interchangeable back plates. However, the bigger selling point of the Moto G is for a smartphone with its very impressive specs, it has a very affordable price.

The device feature a 4.5-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1280x720 and pixel density of 329ppi. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and would have the Android 4.4 Kitkat upgrade in January.

Moto G is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with MSM 8x26 and Adreno 305 graphics, plus 8GB of internal storage and 50GB of Google Drive storage for 2 years.

Its shooter is a 5-megapixel rear camera with 4x digital zoom, autofocus, LED flash and ability to capture slow motion video. It also has a front facing 1.3-megapixl camera for selfies and video charts.

Its connectivity options include a 3g GSM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It has a non-removable 2,070 mAh battery.
