Just when Manchester United are seemingly looking to have relatively picked up the pieces, bad news greets them as midfielder Daley Blind might have to be sidelined for quite a while after sustaining a blow to the knee while on international duty.

The Dutch international has been the stabilizer in the middle of the park for Louis van Gaal, positioned in front of the back-four, while also serving as the link of forward attacks, helping the Red Devils to three wins, two draws, and only a loss in their recent six games.

Netherlands boss Guus Hiddink is prepared to hear worse news after witnessing his charge go down, following a tackle from Latvia's Eduards Visnakovs in their 6-0 Euro 2016 Qualifier fixture.

"I'm rather negative," said the 68-year-old.

"I think it's a medial ligament that is twisted. It might be a rupture."

Blind has, nevertheless, remained optimistic and is already looking to make an immediate return.

"I'm proud of my 25 games for the Dutch national team, but I'm so gutted with my injury... I'll stay positive (and) will come back stronger! Nevertheless a great win, 6-0!" Blind said, through his Instagram account.

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick (groin) and goalkeeper David de Gea (finger) have also incurred unfortunate injuries while with their respective national teams.
