Jose Mourinho believes that Chelsea is no longer in Frank Lampard's heart after joining direct Premier League rivals Manchester City.

It was a game for the romantics after former Blues star came on as a substitute late in the game to salvage the Eastlands outfit a point, scoring the equaliser on the 85th minute, cancelling out Andre Schurrle's fastbreak effort.

"Frank Lampard is a Man City player," said the Portuguese manager.

"When he decided to go to a direct competitor then love stories are over."

"I feel that when a player leaves another club and plays for a direct opponent, he is not going there for a holiday, he is going there to try and beat his club - the one everyone considers the club of his heart, but not anymore."

The 36-year-old retired England international, who spent 13 years with the west Londoners and played under Mourinho during the latter's first and ongoing stint at Stamford Bridge, signed with MLS side New York City FC, but decided to play for its sister club, Manchester City, on loan.

The Romford, London native, on the other hand, admitted that it felt awkward scoring against the club closest to his heart.

"I came here to do a job and it was a special and weird day. It was difficult day for me at the end because what do you do? You're caught in the middle," said Lampard.

"What was a win for me today? Maybe a draw and keeping the Premier League close and a reception from both sets of fans that I won't forget."
