Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling is optimistic that his side can get past the group stages of the Champions League in spite of the Reds suffering a dip in form.

The Merseyside outfit failed to hang on to a 2-1 lead against Ludogorets last Wednesday, conceding a goal at the 88th minute, ending the match level. Nevertheless, they can still qualify for the knockout stages if they beat FC Basel on December 10 (AEST).

"Obviously we're disappointed to not come away with the win," Sterling told UEFA.com after the match.

"But we've got Basel at home now and it's a good chance to go out there and play our football again."

"The key for us is to keep on playing the football that we know we can play and the results will come. In a game like this, in the last few minutes, the key is to hold on for the three points, so we're obviously disappointed in the camp."

"We want to qualify for the next round and I think we're still in a good position. We'll go into the game full of energy and promise knowing that if we win, we can qualify."

Meanwhile, Liverpool will still have to deal with Stoke City and Sunderland first in the Premier League. They will be keen to get back to winning ways after suffering three consecutive losses domestically.
