Instagram fans are probably rejoicing right now because the photo and video sharing company has officially rolled out five new filters including Aden, Crema, Ludwig, Perpetua and Slumber. These updates are part of the Instagram iOS version 6.4.0 and Android version 6.12.0. The good news was posted on Instagram's blog on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014. The last Instagram filters Willow and Mayfair, were released in December 2012. Read on to learn more about the new photo filters of Instagram.

According to the official Instagram blog, the launch of the new photo filters Aden, Crema, Ludwig, Perpetua and Slumber was inspired by the global Instagram community's art, design, fashion and photography. These newly released filters can be seen at the front of the Instagram filter tray.

Five New Instagram Photo Filters:

1. Aden -

According to Allure, this filter makes photos, especially selfies, look like they have been dusted with a light coating of face powder. This is best for people with oily and shiny skin. It is also likened to an Anthropologie rug that has been faded by the sun.

2. Crema -

As its name suggests, it somehow makes photos appear creamier. It is likened to latte foams. This filter is best used for cute pictures of pets and other adorable animals that you chance upon.

3. Ludwig -

Allure describes this as a filter that makes pictures look like a Polaroid photo before it has finished developing. This is best for photos of food and other ordinary items in the house. Somehow, this filter makes common and boring things appear professional and chic.

4. Perpetua -

This filter tinges photos with a subtle blue-green tint that is perfect for photos of the sea, beach or the ocean.

5. Slumber -

This filter gives photos a warm, vintage look, which is best used for old pictures that are posted for Throwback Thursdays, or "TBTs" and Flashback Fridays, or "FBFs."

Aside from the aforementioned Instagram photo filters, the company also updated how these filters are displayed. Now, when you choose a specific filter for a photo, each filter icon will display a blurred preview of the photo with the filter effect applied to it. A "Manage" button was also added at the end of the Instagram filter tray which can be tapped to arrange the filters or hide them if they aren't used as much as the others.

The Instagram for Android version 6.12.0 is available on Google Play, while the Instagram for iOS version 6.4.0 is available in Apple's App Store. Click HERE to learn more about the new Instagram photo filters and Click HERE to find out how you can apply the filters to your photos.
