There is speculation in the media that Google Pixel 2 will be following Apple’s footsteps through its design and possible removal of the headphone or audio jack. The Google Pixel 2 is set for a release sometime in October 2017.

It caused an uproar when Apple decided to remove the 3.5 mm headphone or audio jack from its flagship phones. This move was to entice customers to buy their new Bluetooth earphones, known as the AirPods. However, according to recent reports, there were numerous delays from Apple’s end in manufacturing and shipping the said earphones. Many Google fans are afraid it may be the same case with the company.

Following Apple's footsteps, Google is speculated to remove the audio jack similar to what Apple has done with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Google may launch a pair of wireless headphones or earphones. However, there are multiple products that come at a cheaper price compared to Apple’s AirPods which are currently sold at $229.

According to a leak, there is actual documentation that the Google will really remove the headphone jack from its upcoming flagship phone, which will apparently be very similar in design as the iPhone 7. However, the leak indicated that this information comes from only a single source and does not have a confirmation tag on it.

According to 9to5mac, Google Pixel 2 is going to have two different chipsets. It is unknown whether it is for testing or the actual product where buyers would be able to choose. Some Pixel 2 are using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 83X chipsets while others will be operated on Intel chipsets.

The unknown tipster who informed about the other information about the two chipsets did not mention anything about the removal of the headphone jack. This leaves room for speculation that it is in the process of being approved or there is no final decision as to whether it will be removed. On top of this, the Pixel 2 may be in line for becoming a waterproof phone with improved camera features.
