Singer Janet Jackson has chosen to take a break from the stage and postpone her Number Ones - Up Close and Personal . concert scheduled for Thursday in Melbourne

Melbourne fans of the singer who have already bought tickets to the three shows at the intimate State Theatre will all have to settle for the show on Nov. 3 at Rod Laver Arena.

Concerts scheduled this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday will be rolled up into one huge event set at Rod Laver Arena. Tickets, including those from the postponed Melbourne show, will be honored at the Nov. 3 concert.

Despite having disheartened a lot of her fans in Melbourne especially with three intimate shows rolled up into a single arena, Jackson's Australian promoter Paul Dainty defended the singer, saying the cancellation was due to the availability of the venue and in coordination with Jackson's other world tour commitments.

Due to play at the State Theatre starting tomorrow, Jackson instead has flown to Los Angeles after her concert tour: Saturday at Adelaide.

After discussing with her family, Jackson has made her immediate decision to cancel her Melbourne concerts for the sake of being present in the trial over the death of her brother Michael Jackson. With family first in mind, the singer has been caring for her niece and nephews all of whom are under tremendous emotional and psychological trauma.

"After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now," says the singer.

For Janet Jackson, everything remains to be "Up Close and Personal" with regards to the case against Dr. Conrad Murray - the late Michael Jackson's personal physician. Concert or none, her niece and nephews require the most attention to get through this tragic event in their lives.

Regardless of the heartbreaking death of their father, Jackson's children are growing up to be just like him and his sister -- entertainers. Browse through some of the pictures of Michael Jackson's kids during the "Michael Forever" tribute.
