"Miss Universe 2015" host Steve Harvey instantly became famous on the Internet after his big goof up while declaring the name of the winning contestant. Dubbed as an epic fail by netizens, Harvey mistakenly named Miss Colombia 2015 Ariadna Gutierrez as the new Miss Universe instead of Miss Philippines 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. However, this is not the first time in the history of live TV that an awkward moment like that has happened. In fact, several similar instances have been experienced by other people in various events in the past. Let’s take a look back at other epic fails on TV.

"Australia’s Next Top Model" Cycle 6

Harvey appears to have followed the footsteps of Sarah Murdoch who hosted "Australia’s Next Top Model" in 2010. She announced Kelsey Martinovich as the winner instead of Amanda Ware. It was only after Martinovich hopped on the stage and gave her acceptance speech that Murdoch apologised for her error. She rectified the situation by announcing Ware as the true winner of the reality contest.

"Big Brother Australia 4"

A similar mistake happened on "Big Brother Australia" Season 4 when a miscount of viewer votes led to the eviction of Bree Amer instead of Wesley Dening . Thankfully, Amer was given another chance to re-enter the "Big Brother" house on the following night and went on to become the runner-up of the show.

The BET Awards 2011

Tiffany Green, a lucky fan who got the chance to present the 2011 Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award, announced Chris Brown as the winner. Then, she proceeded to correct herself by saying it was Rihanna who actually won. It gets even more confusing when viewers see Drake on stage, ready to accept the award. Apparently, he's the real winner of the award!

However, the errors don't end there. Billboard reports that after a commercial break, BET confirmed that Brown actually won the 2011 Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award for his song "Look at Me Now." It turns out Green was right all along!

These errors will probably help Harvey get over his recent epic fail. Only a few moments after the "Miss Universe 2015" show wrapped up, he took to Twitter to post an apology for his mistake.

At least Harvey can take comfort in the fact that he wasn't the only one to commit a major epic fail on TV. After all, committing a televised mistake is not the end of the world. Unfortunately, the world nowadays isn't likely to forget such an error, no thanks to the Internet and video-sharing sites like YouTube.
