Paris Saint-Germain's 27 year old Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is frustrated at being played out of position at his new club by manager Laurent Blanc. Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the manager's first choice. In the summer of 2013 he joined the French team for a whopping AU $130 million (£ 65M) transfer fee. Now he has been given the go ahead by his manager to make a January transfer for around AS $100M (£ 50M).

At Napoli, he spent three very successful seasons scoring more than 30 goals in each of them. After the departure of Robin van Persie, Arsene Wenger has not been able to replace him with a striker who can score that many goals. The first preference for Wenger would be to get defensive reinforcements and a defensive midfielder. A striker of Cavani's caliber is rare and Wenger is known to have perused him in the past before his move to France. Wenger also has the resources to bag this prized asset. The lack of striking options at Liverpool could make them bid for the striker as well.

Another winter target for Wenger and Arsenal is the Argentinian striker Paulo Dybala of Palermo. The parent club are interested to make a deal for around AU $62M (£31M) but it remains to be seen if Wenger, known to be a very astute player in the transfer market, splashes that kind of cash for a 21 year old. Incidentally in Argentina he has been dubbed as the next Sergio Aguero.

Arsenal face a very busy festive period. On Boxing Day they entertain Queens Park Rangers at home. Two days later they visit Upton Park to play West Ham United. On New Year's Day they make a trip to Southampton and three days later play their third round FA Cup tie at home against Hull City FC.
