Russian smartphone manufacturer, Yotais also set to debut the YotaPhone 2 on Dec 3. The original YotaPhone was launched last year in December 2013 and now Yota is aiming to launch the successor model after one full year. Yota will hold a launch ceremony for YotaPhone 2 at London. As of now, the YotaPhone 2 release date has not been revealed.

YotaPhone is the only smartphone in the world to feature two displays, one at the front and the other at its rear. PhoneArena states that the rear display of the YotaPhone mainly displays alerts and sometimes it can extend the functionality of an app. YotaPhone 2 was first announced during the MWC event that was held at Barcelona in February this year.

According to Tech Crunch, the rear display of YotaPhone is a power efficient e-ink screen. The predecessor also featured the same rear display but it did not support touch. YotaPhone 2 has a fully touch sensitive rear display that can be used to access various features such as calls, SMS, emails and so on. TechCrunch says that the prototype of YotaPhone 2 was seen used by journalists in February this year, but the manufacturer aims to launch the handset now.

Yota made the announcement on the YotaPhone 2 through its twitter account which states that the handset will be presented on December 3 through an event in London. Apart from the YotaPhone 2 specifications, there are no details available on the pricing and the availability of the device.

According to Phone Dog, the new YotaPhone 2 will come out with a revamped design and improved specs. The second generation YotaPhone features a 5-inch full HD AMOLED screen as the main display. The rear side has a slightly smaller 4.7-inch e-ink display that supports a qHD display resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.

The YotaPhone 2 will be shipped with Snapdragon 800 SoC onboard. It features a quad-core processor which will be supported by a 2 GB RAM. The internal storage of the device is 32 GB. The main camera of the YotaPhone 2 is of 8 MP whereas the front-facing camera is of 2 MP. The handset is enabled with a Smart Power Mode which can be used to turn off the main display and use the e-ink panel. This helps in extending the battery life of the device.

Android Authority says that Yota has not revealed yet on the global markets where the YotaPhone 2 will be sold. However, during the MWC event, Yota had announced the first batch of countries to receive the YotaPhone 2 will include Russia Europe and the Middle East.
