Retired soccer star David Beckham is set to suit up for his own documentary, titled “David Beckham: For the Love of the Game,” by BBC One.

The former England captain is set to embark on a journey across seven continents to play football. The 90-minute film will showcase Beckham’s trips to remote locations around the world under challenging circumstances.

According to BBC One, the premise of the show is to meet people from different walks of life in different locations and show how all of them are linked by one game. The goal is to humanise the aspirations of those who want to make it to the big leagues and at the same time show the real score behind the glitz and the glamour of the sport.

The film will feature everyday lives of athletes who deal with struggles and various living conditions to pursue their dream of making it to the pros.

“This epic journey will allow me to show the positive side of the game I love and shine a light on the passion and selflessness of people that play this sport as a force for good,” Beckham said.

Beckham and his crew will roam the villages of Papua New Guinea, the foothills of Nepal and the streets of Buenos Aires. They will also travel to the plains of Djibouti, Miami and the chilling wastelands of Antarctica. The journey will end in Old Trafford, where it all started for Beckham. It is where he will also play his final game in front of internationally renowned football legends whom he met as teammates or competitors.

This is Beckham’s second project with BBC following his first documentary, “The Unknown,” last year, where he travelled on a motorbike across Brazil. The documentary will likely air on BBC One next year.
