In a major shocker, celebrity contestant Alexa PenaVega and her pro partner Mark Ballas were eliminated from “Dancing With The Stars” Season 21 Week 9 on Monday. Also, it was announced that Tamar Braxton became ill during dress rehearsals and had been taken to the emergency room. But, she hit the ballroom for the team dance.

In spite of Alexa and Mark getting a standing ovation for their contemporary routine, the pair was ousted. Their dance was emotional and intense with Alexa portraying her struggle with a childhood eating disorder. They scored 30 points. Also, their team dance with Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough to a Charleston routine earned them 30 out of 30 points.

Meanwhile, Bindi and Derek did an individual routine to Viennese Waltz. The 17-year-old created magic in the ballroom with her flawless performance and that too while being blindfolded. They earned perfect 10s for their performance, People reported.

“This dance has meant so much and it’s so beautiful. The energy feels so good that I can’t stop shaking every time I do it,” said Irwin. The youngster was shaking after the dance and even judge Julianne Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba were flattered. The pair got 30 points for their routine.

Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess did a quickstep to “A Cool Cat in Town” which earned them 28 out of 30 points. Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson did an Argentine Tango to “What Do You Mean” by Justin Bieber and scored 27 points.

After all the dances were over, Carlos PenaVega and pro Witney Carson and Alexa PenaVega and pro Mark Ballas were in jeopardy. However, Alexa and Mark were given the boot. There were tears in her eyes, but the star said that it was a gracious goodbye, TV Line reported.

Tamar Braxton could not make it in time for the team dance with Val. Braxton was exhausted due to a number of gigs that she hosted in Las Vegas. She was taken ill to the emergency room. Fortunately she did not have to bow out of the competition as she appeared for the team dance. The judges gave the scores were based on a tape from dress rehearsal, WSJ reported. And she scored 22 points.

“Dancing With The Stars” Season 21 airs at 8 pm on ABC on Monday.
