Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho came to the aid of one of his top summer signings Diego Costa, citing that the latter is just showing the opposition that he is no pushover, following accusations that the former Atletico Madrid striker is displaying belligerence on the pitch.

The 25-year-old already has 7 goals to boast of in just the first four Premier League matches of the Blues, but a total of two yellow cards incurred against Burnley and Everton, respectively, seemed to have tarnished his prolific start.

The first handed out because of a dive at Turf Moor, while the second was for repetitively tangling with Everton's Seamus Coleman, which later led to a Costa taunt after the Toffees defender scored an own-goal.

"This is a completely fake point," was the Portuguese mentor's response to claims made against his player.

"Maybe it's a point based on what happened in previous seasons, not what happened here. Here he got the right advice, the right education."

"The referees are there to see the provocation. Diego is trying to play. He's not afraid of aggressive opponents."

"He doesn't let other players intimidate him."

"He's not there to provoke people. He's there to play football and to score goals."
