Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola mockingly stated that Premier League giants Manchester United do not have the means to acquire key members of his squad.

The Red Devils have been linked with Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Muller, and Toni Kroos, who recently moved to Real Madrid, but apparently had no success in luring any of the aforementioned names to Old Trafford.

They did, however, overcome the notion that they weren't capable of landing world-class talents when Angel di Maria, who was worth £60million, joined them days before the transfer window closed.

"They don't have enough money," said Guardiola.

"I saw they spent this kind of money. They didn't have enough money."

"I saw they spent a lot of money. It's good for my friend Louis [van Gaal]. It's part of the game."

"All of the clubs in the world want the players of another club. It depends on the player."

"If the player wants to play he will play."

"If he wants to stay he will stay. I know Manchester wants these kinds of players."

Reports suggest that United have disbursed a total sum of £150million from their coffers to bring in the likes of Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Ander Herrera, and Radamel Falcao (on-loan), along with Di Maria.
