While fans await the theatrical release of “Captain America: Civil War” on May 6, 2016, below are some of the reported details about the production. With the Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, set to return as directors in the third film, it’s expected few of the “Winter Soldier” characters will make a comeback in the sequel.

“Captain America: Civil War” will see Captain Steve Rogers pitted against Tony Stark in their disagreement over the Superhero Registration Act. According to Comic Book Resources, Stark will be the Act’s loyal supporter, which puts him in direct conflict with Captain America, who in turn is against it.

The events that led to Tony Stark supporting the Superhuman Registration Act reportedly stems from the chaos that “Avengers: Age of Ultron” brings. In his guilt over the disaster brought by his own creation that is the A.I. Ultron, Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) rallies with the law-enforced Act, which calls for all superhumans to be catalogued “to better assist the governments of the world in tracking them, should another Ultron-level crisis rear its collateral damage-y head.”

Tony Stark will reportedly come out as a villain in “Captain America: Civil War” due to his support for the Superhuman Registration Act. Meanwhile, Captain Steve Rogers will become a fugitive as he leads his own team of superhumans who are also against the Act. Sacrificing their friendship and alliance, viewers should expect to see the pair exchange a few kicks in the film.

Captain America will be joined in “Civil War” by “Winter Soldier” characters Black Widow, Falcon and Crossbones. It’s unclear if viewers will once again see some of the best moments of interactions from Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov from “Winter Soldier” as no further details have yet been revealed regarding Black Widow’s presence. Her loyalty is yet to be determined as well, whether she’ll side with Tony Stark or Steve Rogers all depends on how “Avengers: Age of Ultron” turns out. But her relationship to both Stark and Rogers will reportedly give the sequel its much-needed drama.

Viewers should expect to see a much better suited Falcon in “Civil War.” Anthony Mackie told Hollywood Chicago that his character will be rebuilt starting from his Falcon suit, which he said “is gonna be much better” than the old one. Meanwhile, Frank Grillo confirmed his return as Crossbones in “Civil War” during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, when he said that what fans saw of his character in “Winter Soldier” was “only a taste of what’s to come” in the sequel. Crossbones will reportedly be the main villain in the film, which brings to question if newcomer Daniel Bruhl will really play as Baron Zemo.

“Captain America: Civil War” will also see the return of Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier. According to CBR, he will play an important role in the sequel as he will be the driving wedge between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is the latest addition to the characters in “Captain America: Civil War.” He was originally scripted in “Winter Soldier” but eventually his scenes were cut. It’s uncertain which sides he will be on in “Civil War” since his original “Winter Soldier” script reportedly had him joining S.H.I.E.L.D. in the hunt for Captain America.

Lastly, Marvel is bringing the web crawler into the MCU. Spider-Man is believed to be an important character in the Civil War storyline according to Tech Times, so he’s set to make a cameo appearance in “Captain America: Civil War” as part of his introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
