‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron': Elizabeth Olsen Confirms Scarlet Witch 'Has Visions,' Not A Mutant

In the Marvel comics, Wanda Maximoff, otherwise known as Scarlet Witch, is described as someone with telekinetic powers. She reportedly also possesses the ability to manipulate or control those around her and even create an alternate version of reality. How these powers will be depicted in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” remains unclear. However, actress Elizabeth Olsen confirmed her character is not a mutant although she possesses the ability to see and share visions.
According to Galactic News One, the latest issue of Empire Magazine contains details regarding the making of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” In it, Elizabeth Olsen revealed the film will be the origin story of Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver. The sequel will reportedly show the twins still discovering their powers. “So we don't have one of those montages where heroes learn all of their powers in five minutes,” she said.
Likewise, in the movie Scarlet Witch supposedly still hasn’t fully explored her powers. She claimed her character is not a mutant, although “she has visions, and she has the ability to share them.” The Comic-Con trailer for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ended with Tony Stark looking down at what seemed to be dead bodies of the other Avengers. However, Slashfilm supposed they’re not really dead. It’s believed to be just a vision Scarlet Witch wanted to show Tony Stark.
Additionally, Elizabeth Olsen claimed in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” Scarlet Witch has the ability to manipulate objects, much like in the Marvel comics. This is also clearly shown in the second trailer where she’s seen tossing cars around. The International Business Times previously reported, Scarlet Witch has the power to control the people around her or cast a spell on them. It’s believed Hulk was possessed by Scarlet Witch when he fought Iron Man in his Hulkbuster. The green giant’s red eyes seen in the second trailer, are supposedly an indication he was cursed or bewitched by Scarlet Witch. Even Hulk actor Mark Rufallo considered it “bad trip” that she has the power to control people. When asked whether she can “call up the Hulk and control him,” Rufallo replied she is “able to bring out the worst in us.”
