Xiaomi has confirmed the Mi4 and the Mi Note will be among the first smartphones to receive the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. The Chinese handset maker, however, has yet to announce an exact release date. The Xiaomi Mi4 was released back in 2014 while the Mi Note debuted last January.

Xiaomi's MIUI operations manager confirmed the firmware update will be soon rolled out to the devices, according to a report in GizmoChina. The report also mentioned the Xiaomi Mi5 and Mi Note will be the first two members of the family to receive the latest v6.0 of Google’s Android operating system with the same MIUI7 version. Even the members of the MIUI official forum confirmed the news.

Both smartphones will also get the latest MIUI 7 version. The new interface will ensure 30 percent faster system response and 10 percent longer battery life.

The company didn’t mention any specific date or timeframe for the official roll out of the firmware. The ROM won’t bring in any update to the MIUI interface, however. Earlier reports suggested the two year old Xiaomi Mi3 will also receive the Marshmallow update.

Just couple of days back, Xiaomi announced that starting Dec. 3, Mi 4 users will also be able to enjoy Windows 10, the latest offering from Microsoft. It’s worth noting users with the LTE version of the Mi 4 can only download the Windows 10 ROM. Users can also get a detailed tutorial by registering in the Microsoft Windows Program.

Xiaomi Mi Note was launched in January with Android v4.4.4 Kitkat. The handset features a 5.7-inch display with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

It also sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and 3000 mAh battery. Available in Black and White colour options, the Mi 4 houses a meaty 3080 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 801 processor, a 13 MP primary camera and 3 GB of RAM, reports GSM Arena.
