Dandy Mott and his mother Gloria Mott were introduced in the premiere episode of "American Horror Story-Freak Show." They were the only two people who turned up to watch the freak show. Later, Dandy wanted to buy the conjoined twins, Dot and Bette, but they were not on sale. The twins refused to go with him. The episode 2 will see Dandy running away from his home to join the freak show, as he feels that he is a freak too. The freaks, however, will not allow him in. To cheer up her son, Dandy's mother will bring home Twisty the Clown from the street. They are not going to be murdered by Twisty. Dandy and Twisty are going to become a team.

Ryan Murphy, creator of "American Horror Story," has said that Dandy will become Twisty the Clown's apprentice. Finn Wittrock, who plays Dandy, has said to TV Line that his character becomes "very enamoured by the clown and becomes his acolyte."

"The clown basically becomes his role model for life. He wants to be him. And he might succeed to a degree," Wittrock said to TV Line. The actor revealed that his character's way of finding himself goes in a "very dark direction."

The actor said that the upcoming episodes will reveal that there was some "trauma" when Dandy was young. He also said that "there might be a bit of incest happening. We'll also learn that maybe, more broadly to say, psychosis runs in the family."

The relationship dynamic between Gloria and Dandy is going to change in every episode. Dandy is very much dependent on his mother but he is also "trying to claim his independence," according to Wittrock. The viewers will see Dandy drinking Cognac from a baby bottle and the actor revealed that, his character loves sweet and also caviar and snails.

Dandy has a playroom, with a croquet court and a puppet theatre. Wittrock told TV Line, "Dandy wanted to be an actor, so he's a frustrated thespian." Gloria, however, did not let him become an actor. Dandy now expresses himself by harming others
