Notwithstanding its killer specs and features, the Samsung Galaxy S 3 won't likely be the iPhone killer. The Galaxy S3 specs include a 4.8-inch HD display, a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, Siri-like S voice, eye recognition, and NFC. But Apple's iPhone continue to be the best-selling smartphone models in the world. Such trend is expected to continue with the long delayed unveiling of the mythical iPhone 5.

The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Apple has ordered screens measuring at least 4 inches diagonally from its Asian suppliers. The current iPhone models carry a 3.5-inch display. This has been confirmed by aseparate report by

Reuters, which said that the upcoming iPhone would a screen size that's 30 percent bigger. Aside from a larger screen, iPhone 5 specs and features are expected to include an all new design, 4G support (like the new iPad), a quad-core chip (or just a dual core CPU with a quad-core graphics processor like the new iPad), and NFC-support.

The Droid RAZR was the thinnest smartphone last year with an eye-popping 7.1 mm depth. While the iPhone 4S has been plagued by battery life issues, a variant of the RAZR, the Droid RAZR MAXX, is able to offer up to 21 hours of continuous talk time due to its 3,300 mAh battery. Now Motorola is gearing up to launch the Droid RAZR HD. The Droid RAZR HD will offer the best of what the RAZR line is known for: a slim design, massive battery, a large 4.7-inch 720p display, a 13 mp camera, and powerful processor. It will also run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, won't have physical buttons.

Moving to tablets, Asus was the first vendor to offer a quad-core tablet with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Transformer Prime specs include a 1.3 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a 10.1-inch LED inch screen. Asus, now among the top 5 largest tablet vendors, aims to have a legit iPad rival with the release of the Nexus Tablet. Although this remains unconfirmed, Google Inc. has reportedly chosen Asus as the OEM for the first Nexus Tablet, which will have a quad-core processor, Ice Cream Sandwich and priced at $199. The top tablet market, the new iPad, just has a dual-core processor (albeit a quad-core graphics processor) and has an entry-level price of $499.

Not only ASUS would be collaborating Google, Samsung would also be releasing another Nexus device soon. The Galaxy Nexus, which was co-developed by Google and Samsung, has been overwhelming success. The first smartphone to carry Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy Nexus has a beautiful 4.65-inch display, a sleek design, a dual-core 1.2 GHz TI OMAP processor. Tech Radar claims that signs indicate that Samsung is working on a new Nexus tablet. The device would have an Exynos 5250 dual-core Cortex-A15 processor clocked at 544MHz, a 5 MP camaera and a Super AMOLED display (1280 x 800 resolution).

The Wall Street Journal reported that Google plans to sell Nexus-branded smartphones and tablets from as many five different suppliers.
