The 2011 U.S. Open champion and former French Open finalist Sam Stosur has ended her campaign at the 2015 Family Circle Cup in Charleston. The ninth-seeded Australian was stunned in the second round by Spain’s Lara Arruabarrena in a three-setter match 6-3 3-6 6-4.

Stosur is aiming to become successful again after a mediocre 2014 season. Stosur, who was once ranked as World No. 4, has said after her opening round win at Charleston that a loss of driving force was the main reason why she failed to perform well last year. She said she was “struggling” and just wasn’t pleased with the way she was playing.

“I wasn’t necessarily enjoying playing, and when you’re not getting the results that you necessarily want or believe that you’re capable of, it gets tiring to be out here all the time,” Stosur said via her official website. “I certainly struggled with that for quite a few months last year; I’m still not where I necessarily want to be, but I’m always kind of working towards that and trying to work on my game.”

This year, Stosur has a 6-10 win-loss record. She has been unable to progress at any tournament as she was unable to win more than one match at the Apia International Sydney, Australian Open, Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, BNP Paribas Open, Miami Open and just recently, at the Family Circle Cup.
