Novak Djokovic heads closer to winning his sixth and third-straight Miami Open title as he meets Czech Tomas Berdych in the quarterfinal round of the tournament at Crandon Park Tennis Center.

Djokovic advanced into the quarterfinal round of the Miami Open after another masterful win in Key Biscayne, Florida. The world No. 1 displayed another masterful performance, defeating Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-3 6-4 in a match that lasted an hour and 49 minutes.

"I had some luck in that last game where he missed a couple of easy forehands to get the break back and get into the match,” Djokovic said, reports Sky Sports. “I stayed tough when it was most needed. The important moments I tried to make him play, make him run."

Thiem earned 14 break points, but the 22-year-old Austrian only converted one and was unable to take advantage of Djokovic’s unforced errors. Djokovic was nowhere near his brilliant form against Thiem, although he managed to keep the Austrian at bay to earn the victory.

Djokovic next faces Berdych, who defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet in three sets 6-4 3-6 7-5. It was the 30-year-old’s 30th match win at the tournament and will have a seventh quarterfinal appearance in 12 attempts.

Against Djokovic, Berdych would need to be in better form if he wishes to get past through the final four stage. Djokovic leads Berdych by 22-2 in their FedEx ATP Head2Head matchup, with the 11-time Grand Slam winner victorious in nine of their last 10 meetings. The last time Berdych won over Djokovic was at the ATP 1000 Masters Rome back in 2013, where the Czech defeated Nole in three sets.

The winner between Djokovic and Berdych could have a semifinal clash against either David Goffin or Gilles Simon. Goffin advanced into the QF stage after defeating Horacio Zeballos 7-5 6-3, while Simon is coming off a 6-0 6-1 victory against Lucas Pouille.
