Nick Kyrgios and Stan Wawrinka have mended their relationship after the controversial incident where the Aussie tennis pro took a spiteful swipe at the Swiss four months ago.

Kyrgios and Wawrinka both played key parts in the Singapore Slammers’ International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) victory over the Indian Aces during the weekend. Initially, there were doubts about the pair setting their past aside and moving on, but the thought was safely put to rest when a vine surfaced on Twitter showing Kyrgios and Wawrinka laughing off what was one of the most controversial situations in sports this year.

Kyrgios made a sledge directed at Wawrinka at the Montreal Masters in August, saying that fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis slept with the Swiss’ girlfriend. However, after playing and winning together with the Singapore Slammers in Asia’s IPTL, “it’s almost like nothing happened” between Kyrgios and Wawrinka.

“We all have a group chat, we’ve all been chatting and I feel like we’re a lot more comfortable with each other now,” Kyrgios told Fox Sports. “I think that's been the main thing, is me just getting up and giving him the same energy I give everyone else and he’s appreciated that.”

The 20-year-old Aussie teen also feels he has grown up throughout the year and is convinced he is ready to finally add a Grand Slam title in his young tennis career. With the Australian Open looming next month, Kyrgios admitted he has to be physically and mentally prepared to battle the world’s greatest tennis players.

“I’ve got a massive way to go physically and mentally but I feel as if I can match it with the best in the world,” Kyrgios added. “The two weeks is a long, long time and takes a lot out of you. So at the moment I’ve just got to do all the work and be mentally prepared for it.”
