Colombian singer, Shakira, confirms that she is expecting her first child with Spanish football player Gerard Pique.

The "Hips Don't Lie" singer has confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child from partner Gerard Pique who is 10 years her junior. The singer also revealed that she decided to cut down on her work schedules in the coming weeks, probably due to her surprise pregnancy.

"As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days," Shakira wrote on her website to share the good news with her fans.

Shakira is expected to perform this weekend at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas but has cancelled the show.

"This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival, but I'm sure this weekend in Las Vegas will be spectacular and I will be closely following everything that happens there!" she went on with her statement.

Shakira and Gerard have been dating for almost two years now but she only confirmed about their relationship when she posted a picture of them together on her Twitter and Facebook account.

Meanwhile, Shakira has just signed a contract to replace Christina Aguilera for the season four of "The Voice." Aguilera is reportedly taking a whole season off so she can provide some time for her music.

Last Tuesday, it was announced that Shakira will replace Christina and fellow coach Cee Lo Green will be replaced with RnB singer Usher. However, they will soon be returning for season five of the hit talent show.
