Madame Tussauds wax museum announced the expansion of their “Star Wars” experience in London. The new exhibition will be opened for the public in May. Movie buffs will get to see a wax figure of Yoda in a setting of the planet Dagobah and other characters from the franchise in the exhibition.

Madame Tussauds tweeted a picture of a wax statue of the character Yoda from the “Star Wars” movies. The picture shows a set designer putting final touches to the wax statue and the Dagobah set. The announcement in the tweet also said that this was the “biggest expansion” of the museum.

The “Star Wars” experience is being created in collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm. The museum will host 16 of both heroes and villains from the franchise. The characters will be placed in sets that will recreate some of the iconic scenes from the movies.

The characters and scenes are said to be from the six movies from the franchise that have already been released. Nicole Fenner, the PR manager at Madame Tussauds London, said that this was “different than anything” the museum has done before. A video showing the fans a preview of the set was released on the official website of the museum.

Apart from seeing Master Yoda in his swamp in Dagobah, fans will be able to see Han Solo in a recreation of the Cantina scene from the original trilogy. Fans will also get to sit alongside Chewbacca on a recreation of the iconic ship Millennium Falcon.

Stephen Mansfield, the principal sculptor at Madame Tussauds, said that it was “a huge responsibility” for him and the team working on the iconic characters because many of the team members were fans of the “Star Wars” movies.

The sculptors and the set designers revealed the challenges they faced when designing the wax statues, especially that of Master Yoda. The 66 cm wax statue of Yoda reportedly took a team of 20 artists four months to be able to make the statue. The team is said to be taking all measures in order to ensure that the statues are very accurate to what the fans have seen in the “Star Wars” movies.
