"American Horror Story" has roped in several new actors to star in Season 4, which is subtitled "Freak Show," including John Carroll Lynch, Michael Chiklis and Finn Wittrock. Also, "The Normal Heart" and "White Collar" star Matt Bomer has signed on to guest star in FX's horror anthology series. And, "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris has expressed his interest in doing a role on the show.

Ryan Murphy, co-creator of "American Horror Story," has said that Matt Bomer will appear in episode 5 of "Freak Show." The actor is set to appear in a seven-page scene. The scene will feature him and veteran actor Chiklis, who is playing strongman Wendell Del Toredo. Murphy has said to The Hollywood Reporter (THR) that something ""horrible and dastardly" happens in this episode and the scene is "really f---ed up." He also said that it is a "true horror scene" and ""maybe one of the most disturbing things" that they have ever done. The episode 5 of "American Horror Story-Freak Show" is titled "Pink Cupcakes."

Meanwhile, Murphy has not ruled out the possibility of Neil Patrick Harris doing a guest-role in "Freak Show." Murphy said to THR: "He's game; he had very specific ideas about what he wanted to do and I have specific ideas. We're working on melding those." If the "How I Met Your Mother" actor signs on to guest-star in the horror anthology series, he is likely to make an appearance later in the season. Murphy said that they have to consider Neil Patrick Harris's busy schedule.

Murphy has said to THR that he would love to see Neil Patrick Harris and Jessica Lange, who is playing German ex-pat Elsa Mars in "Freak Show," together in a scene. He said, "I'd love to see him and Jessica Lange go at it in a really fun way and Neil seems intrigued by that notion. We're inching forward." There is a possibility that the multi-talented actor might appear in more than one episode.

"American Horror Story-Freak Show" premieres with an episode titled "Monsters Among Us." Murphy has co-written and directed this episode.
