Samsung badly needs its upcoming Galaxy S8 handset as perfect as it can be. The company wants nothing more than to move on from the Note 7 fiasco, and beefing up the Galaxy S8 could certainly help in that regard. And Samsung intends to do just that.

Previous reports indicate that Samsung is launching loads of external accessories to go along with the Galaxy S8 to entice potential buyers. The tech giant is now taking it further, reportedly boosting the phone from within by tagging a connected car specialist Harman International to develop the Galaxy S8’s stereo speakers. Samsung acquired Harman just less than a month ago for US$80 billion (AU$107 billion).

According to Fone Arena, the Galaxy S8 is reportedly going to have two variants: a regular 5.7-inch model with an Edge-like display and a larger 6.2-inch bezel-free unit. Samsung may have decided to include the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8 handset to compensate for the discontinued Note 7. Both S8 smartphones are projected to go on sale in March 2017.

The Galaxy S8 is set to be powered by either the Exynos 8895 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset, depending on the market. Samsung also reportedly intends to remove the 3.5 mm headphone jack from the S8 and instead utilise a USB-C port. The tech giant is also said to release special Galaxy S8 screen protectors and protective cases apart from its usual accessories.

Aside from the Galaxy S8’s Clear View Cover, Keyboard Cover and LED View Cover case, Samsung reportedly plans to launch a luxurious Protective Cover made of Alcantara leather. The premium material is commonly used on the interior of high-end cars. Previous reports also suggest that Samsung is going to include a portable 2,600 mAh battery pack and an enhanced multimedia dock in its official list of Galaxy S8 accessories.

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy S8 at next year’s Mobile World Congress. The four-day event starts on Feb. 27 and is set in Barcelona.
