Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as well as the Galaxy Note Edge smartphones are going to be blessed with the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update directly by skipping the much expected Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Since the Galaxy S5 handsets were upgraded with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, users of Note 4 and Note Edge have been eagerly waiting for 5.0 Lollipop but Samsung has not announced any confirmation on the arrival of the update.

On Monday, SamMobile had reported that Samsung is working on Android 5.0.1 update for the lesser known Galaxy S5 LTE-Advanced smartphone, the handset that is exclusive available in South Korea. Today, SamMobile has reported that the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge are also being tested for Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update. SamMobile has also posted screenshots of Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge with Android version 5.0.1 onboard.

The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop is an incremental update which was released officially by Google few weeks ago, states Ubergizmo. The new update does not come with overhaul features but brings along important bug fixes and performance enhancements. On Tuesday, IBTimes had reported that the Android 5.0 Lollipop is marred with numerous issues and the 5.0.1 Lollipop has been rolled out to fix those issues.

Some of the major issues associated with 5.0 Lollipop include, poor Wi-Fi connectivity, quick battery drain, slow performance and crashing and more. According to IBTimes, there are several Android devices that can receive the 5.0.1 Lollipop OS such as the Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 4, first generation Nexus 7, second generation Nexus 7, Google Play Edition smartphones such as first generation Moto G, HTC One M7 and HTC One M8.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop was released in October and since it has been rolling out to more and more devices. It came preloaded on the Google Nexus 6 phablet and Google Nexus 9 tablet. According to BGR, users who have not upgraded their devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop directly can skip it and directly go for the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update.
