Prince Charles is one proud grandfather after learning about the arrival of his fifth grandchild, Lilibet Diana. The Prince of Wales spoke publicly about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s newborn for the first time while touring a BMW Mini factory in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.

The husband of Camilla Parker-Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, managed to insert the news of him becoming a grandfather for the fifth time into his speech about the development of battery-powered vehicles.

“The development of technology like electric vehicles … is vital for maintaining the health of our world for future generations, something I am only too aware of today, having recently become a grandfather for the fifth time,” Prince Charles said, according to ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship.

“Such happy news really does remind one of the necessity of continued innovation in this area — especially around sustainable battery technology — in view of the legacy we bequeath to our grandchildren,” he further stated.

While Prince Charles is delighted about the birth of his second granddaughter, it remains to be seen as to when he would get to actually meet Lilibet Diana, especially since the new royal baby is in California.

However, Page Six claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are likely to bring Archie and Lilibet to the U.K. for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee next year. It was announced last week that there would be a found-day weekend, including a party at Buckingham Palace, to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years reign.

“Of course they’re invited, it’s a family event!” a source told the publication. Another source stated that “so much” can happen in a year, adding that the royal family would want to see Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie, and their new baby girl.

In May, Prince Harry shocked everyone when commented on Prince Charles’ parenting. The Duke of Sussex claimed, during an episode of Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, that his father handed down a “cycle” of “genetic pain and suffering” to him, which formed him and Meghan to step down as senior members of the royal family and move to Los Angeles to take a break.
