The colourful characters of "Orange is the New Black" are unlikely to return before June 2015, but some details about Season 3 have been revealed. This new batch of spoilers comes from Piper Kerman. Netflix's original dramedy is based on Kerman's prison memoir, "Orange Is the New Black: My Time in a Women's Prison." Kerman is a consultant on the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), she reads scripts and offers advice on how to make the show "realistic."

THR has quoted Kerman as saying that Season 3 of "Orange is the New Black" "holds some really amazing stories and twists and turns." Like the last season, some characters backstories will be revealed in Season 3. Also in Season 3, new, intriguing characters are set to join the original colourful characters.

Jenji Kohan, creator of "Orange is the New Black," has said that the theme of Season 3 is "faith." Kerman has confirmed that. THR has quoted her as saying, "One of the things that Jenji Kohan has said about season three already on record is that an exploration of faith is a big part of what she is planning and what they have scripted so far."

One of the intriguing new characters is likely to be Pornstache's mother, played by Mary Steenburgen. In the last season, the son was arrested and sent to the prison for allegedly impregnating an inmate [Daya]. There is unlikely to be any scene between Pornstache and his mother, as Pablo Schreiber, who plays the character, is not reprising his role in Season 3. In addition to the mother, a new corrections officer will be introduced. She will be joining the Litchfield prison staff. Marsha Stephanie Blake has been roped in to play the new corrections officer. Mike Birbiglia and Blair Brown have also joined the cast of "Orange is the New Black" Season 3.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 is currently in production. The filming is expected to wrap up by the end of this year.
