Taylor Schilling, Natasha Lyonne, Kate Mulgrws, Seleniz Leyva, Taryn Manning and Michael Harney were interviewed recently in a panel in Los Angeles. They talked about the TV show’s fourth season, which airs on June 17.

"She’s becoming a little bit of a kingpin and has this swagger," Taylor Schilling teases.

The actress elaborated that what she loved about her character is her ability to try everything like a piece of clothing. The character may not fit the jacket but still tries it on, the Hollywood Reporter says.

The last time viewers saw Piper, she was calling herself “the Godfather” of Litchfield Penitentiary. This came after she sent her prison girlfriend Stella (Ruby Rose) to maximum security and inked herself with new tattoos. Piper’s prison panty business was booming, yet she craved power over her girlfriend Alex Vause (Laura Prepon). Season 4 promises to continue Piper’s badass evolution.

Changes in Piper’s character came in as a surprise for viewers. In Season 1, she was a normal sheltered individual who what suddenly thrown into the world of incarceration. Her character had difficulty adjusting and blending among the diverse cast of characters. She eventually started her illegal panty business inside the prison.

Her promotion to kingpin status may mean that Piper is going to stay in prison for much longer than her one year sentence. There is speculation that her panty business would be discovered, which may lead her to making more time in the facility. This may seal Piper’s inmate status and allow the TV series to have more seasons with the character, Cinemablend observes.

Her evolution to kingpin may also be her path into being corrupt. Character evolution may be in store as Piper becomes an antihero. When Season 3 ended, viewers were given a taste of how her character could be cutthroat and gritty. Particularly when she took revenge against Stella for stealing from her. Piper’s absence in the joyous lake scene finale in Season 3 may also imply that she is no longer the sweet and innocent woman that she used to be.
