The Washington Redskins travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on Sunday afternoon without Robert Griffin III and start a stretch in the early part of the regular season without their star quarterback.

Griffin is out indefinitely with an ankle injury and will look to back-up QB Kirk Cousins, who played well in the Redskins’ 41-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2. The Redskins split their first two games in the regular season with loss to the Houston Texans, 17-6.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are starting to turn heads with their fast start. Philadelphia is 2-0 so far with wins over the Jaguars, 34-17 at home and the Indianapolis Colts, 30-27 on the road. The success of the Eagles can be credited to Philly’s running back pair of LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles, both of whom had great second halves in both games.

Jay Gruden, head coach of the Redskins recognises the potential of the duo.

“They do a great job and sometimes defenses play them extremely well, but the big thing is some of those screens when they hit, they hit for gigantic chunks of yards, and that’s the one thing we have to guard against,” Gruden said via the team’s official website.

Cousins stepped up nicely in lieu of the injured RG3 finishing with 250 passing yards on 23-of-33 completions with 2 touchdowns and no interception. Meanwhile, his Philly counterpart, Nick Foles averages 326.5 passing yards on 58.5% passing percentage with 3 TD and 2 INT in the first two games of the season.

DeSean Jackson, now the wide receiver for the Redksins, is a former Eagle who played in Philadelphia from 2008-2014. Jackson injured his left shoulder against the Jaguars and is listed as questionable.
